Vendep’s portfolio company AlphaSense raises USD 33 million

AlphaSense, provider of the AlphaSense search engine for financial professionals, has secured USD 33 million in growth capital from several international investors. As part of this financing round, Vendep Startup Fund made its third investment in the company.

AlphaSense will use the new capital for product advancement and for accelerating its growth in serving its core investment research and corporate intelligence markets, as well as its expansion into new market verticals.
AlphaSense launched its service in 2011 and today serves more than 400 investment firms, banks and corporations globally. The service provides intelligent search and alerting capability that leverages sophisticated natural language processing and search technology that streamlines finding and tracking the most relevant information, which helps users to save time and make quicker and more informed decisions.

Vendep Startup Fund made its first investment in AlphaSense in 2013, and Vendep’s founder and chairman Hannu Kytölä was the first angel investor in the company in 2009. He has also been a board member since 2010.

“When I first met the founders of AlphaSense, I was impressed by their ambitious vision and a clear plan how to achieve their goal. Ever since, the entrepreneurs have consistently and most successfully followed their plan. We are happy to see that AlphaSense has now secured the support of major international investors, which will enable the company to step up its growth and expansion to new markets,” says Hannu Kytölä.

”I am grateful to Hannu for being the first person to believe in our business idea and for being a valuable sparring partner who understands entrepreneurs. Over the years,Vendep has also helped us in finding early sources for financing,” Jack Kokko, CEO and cofounder of AlphaSense says.
