Applifier Raises $2 Million in Seed Funding

San Francisco, CA, February 2, 2011 -- Applifier, the largest cross-promotion network for social game developers on the Facebook platform, today announced $2 million in seed funding from MHS Capital, PROfounders Capital, Tekes, Lifeline Ventures, and angel investors Jyri Engeström, David Gardner and Lars Stenfeldt Hansen. The company also announced an inviteonly beta of its expansion beyond the Facebook platform, and is now accepting applications for
any web-based game to join the Applifier network.

Applifier‘s cross-promotion network comprises over 100 social applications and reaches more than 55 million monthly active users (MAU), more than any social game publisher except Zynga.Applifier has served over 50 million clicks to its members. "Applifier empowers all social game publishers with cross-promotion capabilities previously available only to the largest social gaming giants. We deliver new users for free to our publishers, helping them compete on more a level playing field," said Applifier CEO and founder Jussi Laakkonen.

Game publishers participate by embedding a cross-promo toolbar next to their games. The toolbar promotes other games in the network. Each game receives promotion exposure in proportion to how much they are giving. Games on Applifier achieve a competitive and promotional advantage previously available only to major publishers cross-promoting titles within a portfolio of games. Applifier has delivered several million free clicks to individual games within its network.

Applifier also announced its expansion beyond Facebook to all web games. The company is now accepting applications for an invite-only beta for any web-based game to participate and benefit from a free stream of new users. "The need for a marketing channel like Applifier is even larger outside the Facebook platform, because the cost of user acquisition for web games is 3-4 times higher than that of Facebook games," said Applifier CEO and founder Jussi Laakkonen.

Applifier was launched in April 2010 to help social game publishers grow their applications through cross-promotion. Based in Helsinki, Finland, Applifier recently opened an office in San Francisco.
